Upon arrival, the situation appeared quite grim. The dog was completely immersed in dirty water, fighting for every breath as she barely managed to keep her head above the surface. It was a race against the clock, as a few more minutes in this state could have tragically led to her drowning.
Saving her from the sewer, her body was limp, and we found a severely fractured leg. It is possible that she was struck by a vehicle, so she sought refuge in the water, possibly to ease her pain or stop the bleeding.
When we first saw her at Animal Aid, the initial assessment was quite concerning. We decided to name her Phoenix, as a tribute to her incredible fighting spirit. Phoenix was in a state of shock, with a weak pulse and a dangerously low body temperature. We were uncertain about her chances of survival.
Phoenix was in desperate need of amputation, but her delicate condition posed a risk for the surgery. Our team delicately worked to stabilize her, finding a balance between strengthening her for the procedure and managing her pain and infection. The situation seemed challenging, but we remained determined.
For several consecutive days, we tirelessly administered antibiotics, provided pain relief, and supplied nutrient-rich fluids in our efforts to aid her. Phoeix, in her remarkable resilience, embodied the very essence of her legendary namesake.
At long last, Phoenix reached a stable condition that enabled her to undergo surgery. The procedure, aimed at removing her injured leg, was a resounding success. Although her recovery process was lengthy and entailed rigorous physical therapy and attentive care, she confronted every obstacle with astonishing bravery.
Today, Phoenix stands as a symbol of strength and resilience. Despite losing a leg, she manages to navigate through life gracefully, her tail wagging and her eyes shining with appreciation and affection. Her humble beginnings in a sewage ditch starkly contrast with her current warm and secure new home.
