Kevin Hart was extremely upset when well-known streamer Kai Cenat pulled a mean-spirited prank on him while they were both on a Twitch livestream together.
Actor and comedian Kevin, aged 44, made an appearance on Kai’s channel last Thursday. However, things took an awkward turn when the content creator presented a ‘gift’ to Kevin. Kai, aged 22, mentioned that he had put in a lot of thought while choosing the gift. Kevin, upon opening it, was surprised and not amused to find a step stool inside, a joke referencing his short stature of five-foot, two inches. Kai explained during the live stream that he had gotten the ‘gift’ to show his appreciation for Kevin. He compared their bond to that of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, claiming they were the ultimate duo.
“It’s like the dynamic duo of Batman and Robin, or Zack and Cody, or even LeBron James and Dwyane Wade,” Kevin explained enthusiastically.
“I wanted to express my gratitude in a special way, so I got you a gift,” Kai stated as he handed Kevin a large, beautifully wrapped box.
Kevin’s eyes widened with excitement as he eagerly tore into the wrapping paper. Kai watched with anticipation, stating, “I really put a lot of thought and love into this, I think you’re going to really like it.”
“I poured my heart and soul into this gift, it’s something I believe you’ll truly appreciate,” Kai added. He teased that it was both “very valuable” and “extremely practical,” emphasizing that Kevin deserved it more than anyone.
As Kevin hesitantly opened the box, he couldn’t help but wonder if it was some kind of prank due to Kai’s giddy demeanor. “Please don’t let this be a joke,” he muttered nervously.
Kai reassured him, “I promise it’s something good, no surprises here.” Kevin cautiously lifted the lid, only to find a black step stool inside. Disappointment washed over his face as he realized it wasn’t the grand gesture he had anticipated.
After a few moments of tension, he stood quietly, gazing at it while Kai cheered enthusiastically.
“I knew you’d like this, bro,” Kai exclaimed. “Just think of all the things you can buy.”
“Thanks. This is pretty cool,” Kevin responded, his gaze fixed angrily on the camera. Reluctantly, he tried it out at Kai’s insistence.
Although the interaction was awkward, they pushed on and continued streaming for another 20 minutes.
Viewers quickly took to social media to discuss the moment, with one person on X (formerly Twitter) pointing out that Kai was only slightly taller than Kevin.
Some viewers praised Kevin for being a ‘good sport,’ joking that he seemed to ‘regret’ joining Kai’s stream.
In February, Kai confronted footballer Shannon Sharpe for calling him ‘three feet tall’ during the NBA’s All-Star weekend.
While playing, Kai felt like he was being overlooked by his teammates and his head coach Shannon. Later, during an appearance on Shannon’s podcast after Shannon made a comment about him being ‘three feet tall’ on ESPN’s First Take, Kai confronted Shannon about it. He was not afraid to assert that he was actually taller than the reported five-foot, four-inch height. Shannon admitted to being skeptical when he first saw Kai in person before the game. To showcase his basketball skills, Kai shared an Instagram highlight reel of him practicing for a celebrity game against kids. Shannon jokingly pointed out that he was playing against children, but Kai defended himself by saying they were almost teenagers.
“No way Kai, that little one was definitely in diapers,” Shannon chuckled. Despite the playful banter, they were able to reconcile and wrap up the interview on a positive note.
